Terra Studios hosting events

Terra Studios will host its annual Spring Break Palooza March 20-24 with food, music, art, and more every day. A full schedule as it comes available will be on usingart.org. 


The nonprofit will also host a solar eclipse viewing on Monday, April 8. The grounds will be open 10am to 5pm with the eclipse expected to be noon to 3pm at their location. 

 

Terra Studios will also host its usual monthly artist and music events. Their schedule is available at usingart.org. 

 

Election Day March 5

The General Election Primary election is March 5 and the Elkins Community Center will be open for voting 7:30am to 7:30pm. The last day for early voting at that location is March 1, according to the Washington County Courthouse. 

Artchella April 27

The annual Artchella Fine Arts Festival will be 10am to 2pm, Saturday, April 27, at Elkins High School. The fundraiser for the arts department will include local artisan booths, open mic, a K-12 art show, food, community, and more. 

 

Local Business News

Several local businesses have news including upcoming events and special happenings. 

 

  • Wish List Travel and Nellie B’s are partnering for two events in March. An evening celebrating Ireland, including a special speaker talking about travel to the island, will be 6pm to 8pm, Monday, March 4. Tickets are available through Nellie B’s. Secondly, the monthly Passport to Pastries event will feature Italy. The event is March 30 and tickets will be available online after it is made available to WLT’s subscribers. 
  • Pretty Pearls Salon recently announced that it was back open. 
  • Nellie B’s will host its first Open Studio class on March 16. The theme will be St. Patrick’s Day and it will include cookie decorating. Tickets are available through Eventbrite. 
  • White River Nursery recently announced a new online shop. Patrons will be able to shop most of their inventory online and order items for pickup. Check it out at shop.whiterivernursery.com

 

Senior Dance March 15

The Elkins Senior Activity and Wellness Center will host a dinner and dance at 5:30pm on Friday, March 15, at the Elkins Community Center. Dinner is at 5:30pm and will include Irish Stew and a roll. Music with the Ruminators will be 6pm to 7:30pm. There will be concessions for sale and a silent auction. Tickets are $10. 

 

Boston Trip Info Meeting

Local Boy Scout Troop Leader and St. Paul teacher Billy Gregory will host an informational session for any Washington or Madison county student (including homeschoolers) to learn about a trip he is leading to Historic Boston and New York City. The meeting will be 6:30pm on Thursday, March 7, at the Huntsville School District Administration Building. It will also be available on Zoom. bgregory@1hsd.org with questions. Swap Meet April 12-13

The Rust and Rubies Car Club will hosts its 2nd Annual Swap Meet 8am to 4pm, Friday and Saturday, April 12-13. There will be a pancake breakfast 7:30am to 9:30am and a burger lunch 11am to 1pm, both are $7. The event will be at 122 St. Highway 45 in Goshen. Vendor spots are still available for $25. Spaghetti Dinner March 16

Richland Baptist Church is hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser to raise money for church camp. The event is 5pm to 7pm, Saturday, March 16, at Elkins Middle School. The spaghetti dinner will also include a silent auction and raffle. 

 

Egg Hunt at Bunch Park March 30

Round Mountain Community Church will be hosting their Annual Easter Eggstravaganza at Bunch Park on Saturday, March 30, starting at 9am. For children ages newborn to 5th grade. In addition to the Egg hunts, they will have free food, a bike giveaway, pictures with the Easter Bunny, and inflatables.

New School App

The Elkins School District has a new app for both Android and iPhone. The app will offer news, events, notifications, and other information parents and guardians might need. 

 

Youth Wrestling Meeting

The Primetime Youth Wrestling will host a parents meeting 5:30pm to 7:30pm, Wednesday, March 13, at the Elkins Community Center. For more information, contact coaches Jeremy Carson (479.287.7968) or Kyler Carson (479.367.4545). 

 

Pancake Breakfast March 9 

The Elkins Volunteer Fire Department will hosts its annual pancake breakfast 6am to 11am, Saturday, March 9, at Station 1 (197 W. First Ave). The cost is $5 per plate and children age 5 and younger eat free. To-go plates are available. 

 

Crawfish Boil April 6

The Goshen United Methodist Church is hosting the 15th Annual Crawfish Boil and Car/Bike Show 4pm to 7pm, Saturday, April 6, at 122. E. Bowen Blvd. in Goshen. The car/bike show is free and a chicken dinner will also be available. 

 

Women’s Conference April 13

Crosses Community Church will host a women’s conference called Garden of “Weeden” 10am to 2pm, Saturday, April 13, at the church. It will include special speakers, a seed exchange, fellowship, and a potluck. 

 

Kayak Class March 16

The Friends of Elkins Public Library will host a kayaking class in partnership with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission 9am to 1pm, Saturday, March 16. For more information, contact the library. 

 

 

First Fridays Start April 5

Egg My Yard Fundraiser

The Elkins Youth Football program is hosting an Egg My Yard fundraiser where you can order candy-filled plastic eggs to be placed in someone’s yard the night before Easter. The rates are $25-$60 and you must order by March 23. To ask questions or to place an order, contact elkinsyouthfootball58@gmail.com

 

FBCE Yard Sale

First Baptist Church of Elkins will host a church-wide yard sale inside the FBCE gym. The sale will be noon to 5pm on Friday, March 22, and 6:30am to 2:30pm on Saturday, March 23. All proceeds support the FBCE Youth Group. 

 

Youth Sports News

The City of Elkins Youth Sports Leagues have several news items for March. 

  • They are in need of umpires for the baseball/softball season. Contact Patrick Yarberry for more information. 
  • The league is hosting a Naturals Baseball Game fundraiser June 21 with tickets going on sale starting March 18 at Elkins City Hall. Tickets are $10. 
  • The city is hosting a Spring Season Kickoff 11am to 2pm Saturday, April 20 at the ball field. It will include vendors, raffles, and lunch. 

 

New Hours, Puzzles at EPL

Elkins Public Library recently announced that it will start staying open until 7pm on Wednesdays. The library also now has a puzzle swap area available. Patrons are invited to bring in a puzzle and swap it with a puzzle in the new puzzle swap area. Please make sure that your puzzles have all the pieces!

No Storytime During Spring Break

The Elkins Public Library will be open, but they will be taking a break from storytime during the week of Spring break.

Elkfest April 20

Elkfest will be 9am to 3pm on Saturday, April 20, at Bunch Park. There will be various food options, music, vendors, and a kid zone.
